Summer rolls on!

We continue to enjoy summer time in Iowa! Weather has been very rainy lately so we're not getting to spend as much time outside but we've had a few nice days here and there! Here are some updates!

  • I took Logan to his first storytime at the library on Wednesday and we lasted about 5 minutes. He was somewhat interested when we arrived - he sat down on the rug with the other kids for a little bit and then got up and wandered around for a little bit and then came back and sat down. When the lady started the story he kind of looked at me like "this is what we came for?" and then proceeded to hop up and head for the door - seriously. So it wasn't a bad first try and we'll definitely try it more as he gets older!
  • Wednesday was also our first trip to the big pool! There is a pool in WDM that Pat and I always liked to go to and it has a pretty nice little kids section so we hit that up and Logan loved it! He was a little daredevil of course but he loved the water and the big climbing play area they have in the middle. He even went down the slide about 4-5 times!
  • Logan's vocabulary is slowly coming around. Some of the things he says (or tries to say include): mommy, daddy, please, mine, dog, sally (from one of his favorite books), outside. He has lots of other ways that he communicates and we can usually figure out what he needs!
  • Logan moved into his new room about two weeks ago and there was no looking back. We moved some of his toys in there that he'd never had in his room before, like his transformers tent, his mickey mouse ball pit, his tool work bench, trucks and some other misc. toys and he seems to love it all! I was worried he'd be unsure of it all but he hasn't even tried to go into his old room since he moved! He loves to play hide and seek in his tent and "fix" things at his tool bench. He even locked himself in his room one day last week - thank goodness they make those doors now so that you can open them from the outside if needed!

Some of Logan's favorite things:
--Watching daddy mow the lawn!
--Ride around on Grandpa's golf cart
--Play on Gma and Gpa's riding mower
--Watch Mickey Mouse
--Chase Snoop around the house or try to ride Emma while she is laying on the floor
--Play in his cozy coupe in the back yard
--Go for wagon rides
--Pretend like he is driving a car - he loves to stand in the front seat of any vehicle and "drive"
--He loves fire trucks and ambulances - anytime he sees one he makes a siren sound
--Loves big trucks and buses

Logan's little brother will be joining us any day now! I'm currently 37 weeks and doing good. He is a mover and a shaker and his party time is about 11 p.m. every night! We have a c-section scheduled for July 2 so that is the latest he'll join us! I had an appt yesterday and they said they think he is currently about 7 lbs so by July 2 he'll be right around the same size as Logan when he was born or just a little bigger. Our c-section is scheduled out at the new hospital - Methodist West - which has an awesome OB unit. My job includes working with the leadership and staff within the maternity service line so I know first hand that they are all great and that we'll get great care while we are there! The fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays so I'm kind of bummed that I won't be able to watch the fireworks but if I'm lucky I might be able to see some good ones out my window - the unit is on the fifth floor! Enjoy some of the below photos and know that the next post will include our new addition!!

Daddy thought it looked like a good climbing tree!

We went to North Liberty and visited friends and went to a BBQ fest that had a bunch of kids jump houses. Here is Logan checking out one of the bounce houses.

Daddy collecting candy while we watched the parade!

Logan trying to carry his bag of candy.

We got to go see the ambulance and fire trucks after the parade!

Not quite finished with everything yet but we did a sports theme and these are some of the b/w old sports photos that we got - notice Pat's favorite player on the right - Jerry Rice!
