40 weeks here we come

Baby Morrison has still not made his grand entrance. Found out at our appointment on Friday that I'm still not dialated. Bummer but what can I do - doc did promise that they would not let me go past October 9 (was that supposed to make me feel good??)

It'll be nice to have a few days off work before he arrives - hopefully I can get some things done around the house while still getting some rest. Just a lot of sitting around and waiting now! I could give you another belly shot photo but just believe me when I say it is very large. :-)

Note to Mr. Logan Charles Morrison - I'll make a little deal with you. You can stay in mom's belly a little longer as long as you promise the following when you do arrive:
  • You must not be over 10 lbs
  • You will not make your mother suffer in labor for more than 12 hours
  • You'll make your entrance prior to 2009

Have a good week all!

Almost 39 Weeks

No baby news yet but we are getting closer......I hope! I found out at my appt. on Thursday that I am still not dialted but that my cervix is very thin. Logan is comfy in his home and I don't blame him! I was reading up on the internet this week about ways to induce labor - I haven't tried any of them yet but not out of the question yet ;-) My last day at work will be this Friday regardless if Logan has arrived - I need a couple more days to get some things done but I'm very excited to have 14 weeks off work! That's right - I don't go back until Jan 5!! And maybe by then we'll have won the lottery...Powerball is up to $175 million this week you know... Have a good week all!

Almost 38 weeks

Hi all - We are almost to 38 weeks and Logan is still enjoying his comfy home in mom's belly. I've decided that this is the hardest part of pregnancy. Yeah the first trimester of nausea and tiredness and the third trimester of just being uncomforable and not able to sleep wasn't a picnic...but now, all the aniticpation is killing me. Everytime something a little different happens I think "Is this a sign of labor?". I keep trying to tell myself that he'll come when he's ready and he'll be here before I know it (2 weeks isn't really that far away) - but I'm just so excited to see him and having no control of his arrival is very nerve racking! One of my favorite things to do is to hang out in his nursery reading his books. The girls at work gave Logan and I a shower recently and we received many great gifts - but I also received a book from each person so Logan now has a great book collection!

I had my 37 week appointment on Friday and didn't really learn anything new. The doctor didn't even check my cervix - which was kind of a disappointment because I really wanted to know if I was progressing...but I guess he didn't think it was necessary. I will be checked at my next appointment scheduled for Friday and hope that I'm at least dialated somewhat. Logan is still head down and growing more and more each day. If he has been gaining about 1/2 pound a week like they estimate, he is up to about 7.5 pounds. Pat and I have enjoyed watching my belly as he makes his alien like movements. He still likes to move around a lot and seems to enjoy jumping on my bladder and giving me little kidney punches the most....so cute already ;-)

Congrats to Rachel and Joe who gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on Sept 5 - Alli Elizabeth was 6 pounds, 6 ounces. Everyone is happy and healthy and I look forward to talking to Rachel about what to expect that first week or two!

Below is a photo of me taken this morning - I realize now that I'm posting this that I should have smiled! Have a good week all and if you're lucky - the next blog might have pictures of our newborn baby!!

50% Effaced

Hi all - We had our 36 week appointment today and everything is going well. I am not dialating yet but the doc said that I am 50% effaced. Which means that labor is probably not right around the corner but I'm at least starting to get ready for it! Here is what the internet says about effacement:

"Effacement refers to the softening and thinning of the cervix. You won't feel this happening; it may only be measured with a vaginal exam. Effacement is measured in percent. When your cervix is normal, it is considered to be 0% effaced. When you're 50% effaced, your cervix is half its original thickness. When your cervix is 100% effaced it is completely thinned out and you are ready for vaginal delivery."

We will now be seeing the doc every week and I can't believe how close we are getting!! I've added a new poll to the left side of this blog - I'd love to see when everyone thinks Logan will make his arrival!!

In other exciting news - my friend Rachel was scheduled for a c-section today and will be welcoming her baby girl very soon!! Congrats Joe and Rachel!!

Barn Shower!!

Hi all - Below are photos from the Barn Shower that Pat's family had for us this past weekend. His mom and dad just built a great new barn so it was a barn unveiling and shower all in one. The weather was beautiful, the barn was awesome, food was yummy, smores were perfect and it was great to see everyone! Pat and I are so lucky to both have wonderful friends and family that have spoiled Logan so much already - before he has even arrived!!

Morrison gang!
Logan's first cowboy boots and hat...so cute!
This was one of the games we got to play. Pat and I had to race to change a diaper (that actually had "fake" baby poo in it that looked very real!) As you can see we got penalized (squirted with a squirt gun) for not remembering to cover up baby's private parts!!
I of course was the winner. Pat wasn't bad but let's just say it was a good thing those babies were not real. He'll have lots of real experience once Logan arrives!
This will be so true!! (Cake was yummy too!)
This was right before we opened gifts but I had to include this picture because I just loved the wagon and can't wait for Logan to use it! (Thanks Kathy, Deb and Angie!! And thanks to soon-to-be-grandpa Morrison for fixing the front wheels for us!) All of the gifts we received were perfect and will be put to good use very soon!

(I don't have a good photo of the new barn yet but I'll be sure to add that in once I do!)

36 Weeks

Hi all - We are now 36 weeks and 2 days and still doing great. Getting more uncomfortable every day with back pain really being the worst part of it - usually the worst at work. But I'm still grateful that I've had a pretty good pregnancy overall. I really feel for those mom's that are on bed rest for weeks or have morning sickness all 40 weeks. Whenever I want to complain - I think about them! The following is a fun little list of some of the interesting things people around me have gotten to seen and things that I've found pregnancy causes:
  • Saying something that makes absolutely no sense - sometimes almost like I'm speaking a foreign language (which I often follow up with "I'm pregnant")
  • Realizing how hard it is to put socks and shoes on and avoiding certain outfits just because of the shoes I'd have to try and put on if I chose that outfit.
  • Spilling food/drink on your belly all of the time and often times not even realizing it until someone points it out (embarrassing especially when it is at work!)
  • Even maternity clothes become too small and I'm constantly checking to make sure my belly is not showing and that my belly button sticking out isn't too obvious
  • I've found that people you don't know (and even those that you do) are generally a lot nicer to you when they see you are pregnant. This definitely works to your advantage!
  • Young children stare at me and my belly like I'm an alien. I really do love those that point and ask "What is that". I especially love those that then turn to their parents and say "How did that baby get in there?" Love it!!
I'm getting very anxious for Logan to join us - I try not to think about him coming early because I know I'll just keep getting more anxious every day and most likely he won't come until around or (god forbid) after his due date! I am worried about how big he is getting but overall just hope for a safe delivery!

Enjoy the below photos of the baby room and some belly shots. I did a little rearranging in the nursery and like this much better. It is very close to being all done. Still need to get a crib mattress, put up the closet doors and find a rug for the floor - but other than that we are ready for Logan to join us. (You'll even see in one of the pics that we have our hospital bag packed!)
